Understanding Stats and Prompts
Learn the seven stats, outcome bands, weather modifiers, and prompt requirements.
EiTM uses Hunting, Combat, Movement, Medicine, Charisma, Wisdom, and Intelligence. HP is tracked separately and has a maximum of 10.
A prompt supplies a value for an action. Add the relevant character stat to that value. Totals of 1 to 3 produce a Miss, 4 to 6 a Bad result, 7 to 9 a Medium result, and 10 to 12 a Good result. The final prompt total is capped at 12. Required actions must use their required stat: hunting uses Hunting, combat uses Combat, and treatment uses Medicine. Other prompts may allow the player to choose a response that genuinely fits.
Weather may temporarily modify relevant stats from -3 to +3 and may unlock special weather outcomes. These modifiers do not change permanent stats. They may temporarily push the usable stat above its ordinary age or rank cap, but the combined prompt outcome still stops at 12.
A character needs one opening prompt when entering a new scene. Additional prompts are used when beginning a new rolled action or responding to a system event. A prompt cannot be rerolled merely because the player dislikes the result. Complete the required RP response before claiming completion or rewards.
Apprentice and adult caps, progression requirements, and graduation goals appear on the character's Progression panel.
